Vicki's famous rolls
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 6 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 packages of dry yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 egg
- In a saucepan, mix the shortening, sugar and milk. Heat until scalded and let cool
- Sift flour with the salt in a large bowl
- Add the egg to the yeast+water mixture
- Mix all ingredients together in the bowl
- Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for 1h
- Turn dough over in the bowl
- Let rise another hour
- Separate dough into rolls, crescents, whatever
- Let rise again for 1h
- Bake at 400F until brown
